Mainly THE EXORCIST. Thats the one everybody's seen. A lesser known movie is ABBEY. The exorcisms Ive seen were nothing like these movies. I have read that THE EXORCIST was based on a true story though.  |

I've heard that also. It was based in part on the history of exorcism in the roman catholic church. Mainly THE EXORCIST. Thats the one everybody's seen. A lesser known movie is ABBEY. i have often wondered about that myself gamaliel.. the scientific community writes it off to mental disturbance.. the spiritual community says there is genuine demonic possession.. i know demonic posession is mentioned in the Bible so I would tend to believe there is at least some truth to it.. also i have wondered when i saw the penecostals speaking in tongues were they really being possessed by demons (rather than God).. that is a real gray area for me. anyone else with some input?

well glossololia I think is the official term in textbooks and it has been evidenced in various cultures around the world including demonically possessed people! Father Divine's Mission Movement got started at the same time the Pentecostal movement took off. You ask any pentecostal and they'll tell you Father Divine is a cult! Yet they "speak in tongues". Yes sum of those folks in church do have sum kinda demon in them but I would never say all. The point is can a person such as we see in the movies be possessed by a demon to the extent of levitating, spewing goo and moving objects around the room?

Thats interesting Court, I ask myself similiar questions like these. I know Holiness girls who would tell me they would be set aside after baptism for hours until they spoke in tongues. Some admited to faking others claimed the Spirit of holiness. Also I watched a freind praying to be delivered and then jump up (after smoking pot) spew vomit everywhere and ran around her trailor bouncing off the walls. She later told me that was God delivering her, she had the Holy Ghost and she could not control herself. I told her according to scripture that is totally opposite of how folks act after getting the spirit of holiness. I believe she was not under her regular will. Was she inhabited by a spirit or did she go into a state of self dilusion. The only time I experience what I think is the presence of God is when I get a serious intuition and my inner voice starts telling me stuff that later ahppens. Or during deep spiritual conversations I get a tingly feeling. I do believe in a spirit world or world where other beings and forces are around us, but I don't know to what extent they can operate in this realm. But your subconcious mind is a totally different realm and it is very powerful, hence Witch Craft or Magic. I know for a fact that many things can be influenced by thought, but is there a little guardian angel or demonic force with a frequecy to the subconcious carrying out these acts  ? |

i think it's just one of those things we will never know for sure.. like a lot of issues dealing with the bible- for just about every viewpoint out there there is a piece of scripture that can support it (most of the radical stuff is taken out of context)... so we will never know 100% for sure until we meet God.. but for me- if it doesnt feel right i dont do it.. one real quick example about speaking in tongues.. my fiancee says that he has done it.. and believes he had the holy ghost.. It has never happened to me but I believe that I am saved.. I have prayed that if it was the right thing for me i wanted it to happen- and it has never happened.. and it really kinda wierds me out to be honest.. however i would never discourage anyone from doing it if that's what they want to do.. good lady c she has a sick obsession with our admin from way way back.. and as of yet has not sought help-obviously. she has been banned mulitiple times but is only able to post on ths forum b/c it's the only one you can post on without a membership.. i originally asked 1dell for it to be that way while i was recruiting on other message boards. im seein about changing that though. LOL, not to worry, i've administered enough websites to know that trolls exist everywhere! |

OK since we established people can be possessed, how do we get them delivered or as commonly known as exorcized? Go to the Catholics? Witchdoctor? Psychic Ward? Who we go to?
