"Roots" is a poem inspired by the Parable of the Sower in Mark 4:1-20 with the hearer of the Word finding the redeemgtion of the Lord through Grace. Please read the scriptures if you are not famiiar with it
"Daily Bread" will give its own explanation.
Roots
I was a seed scattered on hard soil
No deep roots I grew to stay loyal
My limbs are weary to the touch
As temptations came I went as such
Withered away from no action
Hearing without doing bears no creation
But the Light of Grace came down on me
After my fall's harvest I was re-sown to be
a risen fruit grown on higher ground
I drank His commandments as ears to sound
Through faith His work I do in plenty
In my branches I seek to feed many
Daily Bread
It's after Church and you've heard the Word
Feelin' good, Spirit soaring high as a bird
But this is where the ritual begins
Good food blessed and eating until a sin
Mouth watering and finger lickin'
Belly swollen, get ready for naps and football kickin'
Sanctified souls while our Temples fall down
A Church Body of faith without fitness
continues to grow round
During the week the meek wrestles to do right
Physical training will help in the spiritiual fight
Exercise that appetite out of the flesh
Unhealthy-unholy, disease will manifest
Lest we forget, Breaking bread is our beautiful tradition
But the Lord never told us to worship
what's in the kitchen
