relx Coutney luv. I was making a point for the reason catholic priests take on the vow [celibacy]. They are *attempting* to be christ like. i simply was stating how i feel about the subject kah.. but i see this may unintentionally lead us back to that discussion about sex for other than procreation and i really dont wanna revisit that.. can't ya just let me have my dang opinion and leave it at that-whether it's right or wrong to you. inevitably no matter what i say someone isn't going to agree with me. .and im not asking anyone to.. just sayin what's on my mind. this instance in particular im not looking to debate it.. maybe later

not that it makes much difference, but out of curiosity.. what denomination were they?? it's sad because you would think your kids would be safe with members of the church and something like that happens. Baptist. The "fire and brimstone, burn in hell sinner!" kind.

Courtney, the disciples abandoned their wives and children to be like christ. Christ was celibate. really? there are other gospels that contrary. either way his disciples were not. that includes Paul. pharisees had to be married. sorry veer off the subject. sex is not unclean or perverted. its like many good things that can be abused and twisted for selfish and perverted reasons.

couple of points you got here i will address... The disciples were commanded to abandon their household. Here is the verse : Luk 18:29 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake, Luk 18:30 Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting. and, Mar 10:28 Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.sex does make you unclean, read leviticus 15 chp. (specifically Lev 15.16). really? there are other gospels that contrary. either way his disciples were not. that includes Paul. pharisees had to be married. sorry veer off the subject. sex is not unclean or perverted. its like many good things that can be abused and twisted for selfish and perverted reasons.

that verse from St.Luke is interesting considering what Jesus taught his disciples about divorce. I dont have a Bible with me I'm at work, but the verse I'm refering seems to contradict the one you gave. He preaches against divorce in St. Matthew but then tells his own followers to leave their families? Doesnt make sense and it goes against The Torah. According to the Book of Acts also by St. Luke, Phillip never left home except he temperoralily went to Samaria and had 2 daughters who prophesied. One of the 613 commandments is be fruitful and multiply...which means have sex. Why make a something mandatory for Hebrew men and then make it unclean? Its only unclean when you do it while in prayer or fasting.

Remember what I said in an earlier posting, Jesus did everything according to the law of moshe. I think the word "abandon" is misleading on my part. I think the more politically correct term is seperation. What he told them to do is rooted in law which deals with military men during times of war . The christ' movement was a spiritual war and the disciples were military men in his army. They had to depart from their families in order to fulfill their military obligation. When their tour of duty was up they could then return to them. I will get the law that deals with the warfare and seperation from family... that verse from St.Luke is interesting considering what Jesus taught his disciples about divorce. I dont have a Bible with me I'm at work, but the verse I'm refering seems to contradict the one you gave. According to hebraic law, the bodily discharge during sexual intercourse is unclean and one must wait until sunset before returning back to normal clean state. Did you get a chance to read the law on the uncleanliness of bodily fluids ? that verse from St.Luke is interesting considering what Jesus taught his disciples about divorce. I dont have a Bible with me I'm at work, but the verse I'm refering seems to contradict the one you gave. in case anyone is interested in an update on what this thread was about in the first place, no violence erupted. might have had something to do with the mounted police, the campus police, the county police, and the metro police all standing between the WBC wackos and the students who were trying to get to class.
gee, thanks for the prayers folks.
