Tribal News: Second Confirmation of The Torture, Cruel And Unusual Punishment Of Dr. Malachi
How would you like to live with big rats, some up to 12 inches long? How would you like to live with roaches up to 2 inches long? Live in a cell with the stench of unclean drain system, in an improper ventilation system, weather freezing cold or steaming hot around people that you don’t know what type of disease they have? Or how would you like to share the same underwear, same slippers...
of other inmates who could have athletes foot or Crabs, and they don’t make it available for you to buy your own medicine? How would you like to sleep on a cold concrete floor because your room is overcrowded? And when you inquire about proper medicine it takes two to three weeks for you to get your medicine by a guard that doesn’t know what anything about medicine? How would you like to eat half-cooked food that was pushed under an unsanitary door? How would you like to be on lock down, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day with no phone privileges, no fresh air, no TV, and no radio? How would you like for them to offer you commissary with no name or generic products with some dates expired, just to imply that they are giving you privileges? How would you like to only get to shower three times a week for only five minutes? Oh it doesn’t stop there. How would you like to take medicine given to you from dirty hands or even worst than that medicine that was dropped on the dirty floor from a jailer, not a certified nurse? How would you like to have a life threatening illness called Hereditary Angioedema or Multiple Sclerosis and only get your medicine when the guard is ready, missing dosages at a time and in fact giving you Generic Medicine? How would you like to be hoodwinked, bagged, blindfolded made to walk backwards with shackles? How would you like to be chained to a bed for hours at a time not being able to move or use the bathroom? How would you like to get a bucked water thrown on you, simply because you requested a shower that you asked for? How would you to be woken up everyday at 5:00 A.M. in the morning just to get cursed out by guards who are 20 or 22 years old when you are approaching 60, little racist officers younger than you with a superiority complex because they know that they are inferior? They treat all inmates the same, regardless of their age. What do I mean by regardless of their age. I mean that a 60-85 year inmate may respond differently to a medicine rather than a 18-25 year old inmate. I mean an elder inmate requires more sleep than a younger inmate. I mean that an inmate 60-85 years old may need to be on a different eating schedule. Do they care? No, they treat an old inmate as if he’s 18. It gets worse. How would you like to be placed in a cell with convicted murders? How would you like to be placed around inmates with AIDS and tuberculosis? How would you like to be in double solitary confinement in a 98-degree room with no windows with the lights always on so that you don’t know where your day begins or where it ends? This is the type of cruel and inhumane treatment that inmates go through day after day, month after month and year after year, but just gets shoved under the rug because the inmate has been cut off from their family members. Now what is an inmate? It could be your son, your brother, your uncle, your father, your nice, your aunt, your mother, your husband, your wife, or your best friend. People you care about get treated like animals and all of that is flavored with racism. The Asians, Latinos, and Blacks get treated worse than all of the whites. These are the things that they are trying to hide. They don’t care about the inmate; they care about money.
Dr. Malachi Z. York has been telling us for over two years that this inhumane treatment has been going on and it didn’t become real to you until it was disclosed about the treatment of Iraqi prisoners. According to The Eatonton Tribune, in an article titled, “International Criminal Court picks up York Torture Suit” in June of 2004 by Emily Lawson, it states, “Mr. York’s earlier claims of being hoodwinked with a bag over his head, is not far from unbelievable with the recent disclosure of torturous treatment of Iraqi prisoners…” While, Dr. Malachi York was in MCC New York, he was transferred to 10-South where they keep terrorist. And while on 10-South, he ran into pre-trial inmates there for 15 years just because they were Arabs. This was the first confirmation of the cruel and unusual punishment or better termed excessive punishment of Mr. York. What is excessive punishment? According to the Black Law’s Dictionary excessive punishment is “Punishment that is not justified by the gravity of the offense or the defendant’s criminal record.” However, when you file suit against the officers facilitating this torture they straighten up for a day, they are mockingly nice, but then the next day they go back to you like animals. So, what is the second confirmation of the torture, cruel and inhumane treatment of Mr. York? Well, recently in The Atlanta Journal Constitution, published on June 6, 2004 A.D., in an article titled, “Fulton Jail is in ‘scary’ Condition, Monitor Declares” by Steve Visser, it states, “The Fulton County Jail is becoming increasingly dangerous and unhealthy because of crowding and poor security, and immediate intervention by county officials is required to prevent serious harm to staff and inmates, according to a new report on conditions. Robert Greifinger, who has monitored the jail since a federal lawsuit was filed in 1999, visited two weeks ago and found many inmates sleeping on the floor, puddles of water, inmates unable to shower, broken air conditioning and mold on the ceiling. Greifinger — former medical director of the New York state Department of Corrections — has toured the jail 18 times in five years. His most recent visit prompted him to describe the jail as ‘scary’…” Does this sound familiar? This is the type of torture that Dr. Malachi Z. York has been subject to for over two years. And you think that sleeping on the floor, puddles of water, inmates unable to shower, broken air conditioning and mold on the ceiling is bad. That is just a minute aspect of what Dr. Malachi Z. York is going through on a daily basis. So, again I ask you, how would you like this to be you?
