Punishing the Guilty

You count on the court system to punish the guilty and not to inflict more pain on the victims.
A plea deal in the Nuwaubian sex crime case allowed an admitted child molester to spend just two years in prison.
The state's deal was justice the victims, after two years, were begging for.
Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills helps keep more than 100 victims up to date on what punishment Kathy Johnson and Malachi York receive.
"I notified a couple victims last night by email."
Sills continues, "They're glad Kathy (Johnson) plead out because they knew they would have to come back here and testify again."
The Nuwaubian court cases are two years old.
Prosecutor Dawn Baskin says a technical appeal by Johnson didn't help.
"It delayed the case for more than a year. And that year was detrimental to the state's case and it did allow for a lot of abuse to occur against the victims."
Not the sexual abuse Baskin says was going on at the compound in Putnam County at the hands of York and Johnson.
She's talking about harassment, stalking, threats.
"One lady had a message left on her answering machine and all you heard was the clicking of the gun."
"Others called and said 'We've moved. Here's our phone number. Please don't give it out. They're finding us."
Baskin says by law defendants like York have the right to know the names of their accusers.
But those names found their way to his followers.
"The United Nation Nuwaubian Moors' printed the names of victims in publications and the internet. Put portions of a child's diary on the Internet. There's no question in my mind that that was done with intentions of humiliating and embarrassing the victims in this case."
Baskin says those victims saw the plea deal as a way out.
"When they ask for justice, the system gets used against them. I have a problem with that. It's our system. It's the best system there is. But the system can be wisely used to delay, to allow for harassment and that's what happened here."
Both Sills and Baskin say the threats continue and may not end until York is sentenced next week.
Kathy Johnson was sentenced Tuesday.
She'll spend two years in prison but qualified for first offender status and will not have to register as a sex offender.

I've been following this story via the information provided here. It seems almost unreal and then you connect the faces with the actions. It is hard to even relate to the type of mindsets that accompany this type of behavior. I know love can make you act crazy but dayum. I'm sure he prays on a certain type of woman. One that may be easily controlled by a mans interest in her, more concerned about what he says or possesing him than maybe even the welfare or impressions left on her children, low self esteem ect. I've seen woman that fit these profiles and they are probably easily manipulated by someone of his character. He appears very charming. Its a terrible thing, how power is misused. He let alot of people down even those who were not directly supportive of him and the community. I mean I'd go as far as to say that 5 out of 10 blacks in major metropolitan cities between 18 - 40 yrs old have read a scroll from that brother. It reminds me of a movie I rented for my family a few months back. It was called " Savage Messiah" it was not mainstream maybe independant, based on a true story. he didnt ONLY pray on weak minded woman, he broke down anyone who was strong minded untill he was able to control and manipulate. people who are strong minded and strong willed are actually atractive to him- he sees it as a challenge - he is a con artits, he will get to know u and know what it takes to get u to the point of control- if u are one of those vain sisters - he will wine, and dine, and complemnent them , soup them up- they will be 'from sudan' the 'smartest women on the camp' what ever it takes- then he gets what he wants and kicks them to the curve, if your a spiritual person- he will play the part and little by little take that apart. many of the younger adults and children who left have a low self esteem even if they didnt have it in the begging- he raised them as 'misfits' that could only survive in his world and that noone else would want them or care for them. many of them was SHOCKED to know they were actually attractive to people. not to mention the childrend born and raised in the mosque was a much easier pray for him since they was raised to worship him and feel honred to be in his presence. no matter what 'type' u are - u learn quickly its HIS way PERIOD. he would even buy new people rings and brag to others - 'its just a matter of time before they PAY UP - i didnt give that to them for free' . u dont question and most time u dont think to question becasue u here it all the time. and if u do question - u are shunned for it, or made to feel bad- mean while his congragation 'bgrags' about how he says 'question everybody' he meant everyone BUT him.

I could only imagine  I have seen him in action (from the outside looking in) all my life. Never to the extent I learned about through the brothers and sisters on this board. He has affected people I grew up with, he even had my dad reading the scrolls. I seen him go from Ansar to Hebrew, to Christian to new age science approach. I was always intrigued but thank God not to the extent of some. I was only elaborating on the pretty young woman I seen and how if I seen her walking down the street I would never imagine her capable of those acts. He looks to be charming and disarming. I pray those who encountered and have been affected by him negatively can regroup and move forward. |

its funny how m9 massa got him under lock and key! how many times is doc going to HAVE to say HE IS GUILTY and NO one cohersed him into ADMITTING it b4 they get the picture? he couldnt even get up on the stand and LIE for himself! ???and we are still 'waiting ' on him to withdraw his guilty plea-he got a week now to do it, i thought he said he would do it right after they announced him GUILTY AS CHARGED? what is he waiting for?
