Is it Lawful or unlawful? Sex On The Sabbath A man wondered if having sex on the Sabbath is a sin because he was not sure if sex is work or play. So he asked a priest for his opinion on this question. The priest said, after consulting the Bible, "My son, after an exhaustive search, I am positive sex is work and it is not permitted on Sundays." The man thought, " What does a priest know of sex?" So he went to a minister (a married man -- experienced) for the answer. He queried the minister similarly, and received the same reply -- sex is work and not for the Sabbath! Not pleased with the reply, he sought out the ultimate authority -- a man of thousands of years tradition and knowledge -- a rabbi. The rabbi pondered the question and stated, "My son, sex is definitely play." The man replied, "Rabbi, how can you be so sure when so many others tell me sex is work?!" The rabbi spoke softly in answering him," If sex were work, my wife would have the maid do it." hee hee hee

Seriously 'do, I think sex on sabbath is lawful. First of all sex is not work (although it may seem like it at times), it is the beautiful joining of two people - as long as it could not be considered fornication or adultry. I qualify this by saying - too much of anything is a sin. So if you neglect all your other responsiblities to participate in this sort of activity then it would borderline on being unlawful. Everything in moderation and in consideration of good priorities ** this is all just my 2 cents - so you may disagree with me- that's okey doke**

Is it Lawful or unlawful? I know this is an old topic on the board, but I've been caught in studying (trying to get that M.ED in June 2005), but the brother and I have discussed this offline before. I don't think the emphasis in TNK is on work-v-play view of sex. I think it is on Clean -v- Unclean...and If I correctly remember our conversation...I think that we came to the conclusion that it is the male ejaculation of semen that makes the act 'unclean'....(we discussed various techniques for NOT ejaculating.... ). Therefore, perhaps (and this just a perhaps)...it's not permitted because it makes YOU & YOUR PARTNER-- the participants-- unclean on Shabbat if you ejaculate...and if you're having sex for pleasure...then what's the point in having it IF you aren't going "all the way" with your partner? So perhaps (and again this is just a perhaps)...that will hinder the type service(s) you can render to YAH on the Shabbat. Just my thoughts on the matter. -TribeofDan

Shalom and thank you my brother. I am certain, however, that there will be some who disagree with that assessment. -Pedayahu
