To clarify, because I hope you are not considering me in this "ya'll"--I stated that when I was following the teachings Islam--way back when (nearly 13 years ago) I "could" have probably handled a polygamous situation.
I could have done so "if" we were in a community setting, where the entire village raised the children. A co-wife could help balance out the housework and homeschooling needs of the children etc.
She would not be some sex toy, nor would I. There are many days here where I wish there was an extra helping hand--but I know that extra helping hand turns into a needy hand (clothes, food, medical, sex). However, I'd rather hire some granny type of woman, whom I know isn't just trying to get some ding-a-ling out the situation.
As I am older and much more wiser I KNOW I could not get down with it. I am not against it--simply because it is some people's culture on this planet. It is not for me.

Sumtimez the lady dont tell U she's married if its a one-night stand type thang. It happened to me in the late 80's. Me and boy was hangin' on the corner one Saturday night chillun tryin to figure out what we could get into. Didnt take long. This was in San Diego. This car pulls up with 2 ladies in it and they ask us what we up to. We say "just hangin, wazzup with with yall?" They said they crusin and lookin for sum fun. We get in and go to the pool hall. Next stop we go get a nicklebag. I dont smoke, never did (weed). My friend did and so did they. We head back to this house one of the women live in. The lady he had was a live-in nurse. The one I had was her gurlfriend. They was hypes, just didnt look like it. They down for sex. The old lady lives upstairs so we wouldnt be disturbed. All 3 of them go in the bathroom and strip to their drawls and start smokin' this glass pipe with what looks like sum type of bowl. Didnt smell like weed to me. I dont get high but I am horny and got real impatient. She gets her high on and then takes me in this room that must be the old lady's son. Looks like a teenagers room. She goes down on me, no good at it at all. I tell her to stop and lets f**k. I get on top of her and its like sticking my dick in a hollow hole. Sex was NO good. I was pissed. Hype-sex aint sh**! I tell her to take me back to base. Me and my boy was in the Navy. She drops me off like a good 2 miles away. Its like 2am! Couldve gotten robbed or anything. The next day my friend comes back and wakes me up asking what happened to me. Why did I leave? I told him what went down. He was mad at me. He hit it off real good with the other lady. Of course they hit bit off. They was both hypes! The moral of this story? He tells me that the lady I was with, her husband shows up that morning looking for her! She didnt come home! My boy tells me this dude looks just like me! Light-skinned, curlyhair, glasses, the whole bit. My twin. ;D Damn What if I had stayed there?

Maybe I should have clarified myself. It is stupid if practiced TODAY. I gave the reasons why it was practiced THEN and those reasons had purposes. I don't see things done with purpose as stupid. Some of those reason were valid and necessary It may be stupid but the gr8est men recorded in the bible were practicing it. Do you consider them stupid for practicing a stupid tradition ? |

If the Qu'ran and Hadith said multiple wives--then I could be down with it THEN--but we never did. I met many couples who had co-wives and they looked sad---it was like there was no love in their marriage at all. I knew I could not do that. Fresh and into it--it was a passing thought. I try not to knock other cultures--so, in other countries where that environment is condusive (Arab countries) then hey--whateva. The mormons here make me sick. It isn't a healthy environment--it's just a love den for some man. |

Well one things for sure, the culture of today is definitely not like the ancient times. And if I were to choose, you best bet your bottom's dollar i'd take the olden days over today anytime.
