I'm starting a third book,Out of Struggle, and i would like some opinions and critiques from all on my first poem. The concept of this book of poetry is about those of us who are of the Body of GOD but struggle with all the problems of everybody else. I try to convey that we all deal with the same conflicts. But we must continue to fight our dead flesh that fights to come back to life.
Our old sinful ways are encoded in our memories but we have been washed and made new. Our union with the Messiah/Christ creates a bond within us that is always telling us and letting us know what is right and wrong-that little voice and inner knowing that comes up when we deviate from the Way.
Here's my first poem for the new book. I am making the age old comparison of the club to the church house and how we must basically grow into the knowing that the Church is really the members and that Yeshua/Jesus is the focus of our Existence.
Past Dreams
I daydream
Club life
Church right
Club life
Church right
I pick the flower petals of my choosing
How can I forget those spirits in my boozing
Dj pastor spinning his divine beat
Making the girls wiggle as I praise on my feet
Congregation filled with an unholy smoke
No listening to His call O' GOD Folk
Help me Lord come out of this trance
Bring me back from the memory of my sinful dance
Club life was right for me in days gone by
But our rituals worshipped not the Most High
I cannot deny what's in my flesh
I will not submit to it's tempting best
Club or Church Body is no hard decision
My dead body just recalls what it's missing
For I know the Glory that's in me
Reborn of the true Master of Ceremony
**this just came to me as I reread this poem. When we think that we are individuals that are not connected as the Body of the Most High, we are in the flesh and we are dead because we know not that we are of the Whole of GOD. But when we are Reborn we are of the knowing that we make up a community of Believers, a Whole. We should know that we are individual parts of the entity GOD. We are Alive and One.**
