I was in a christian chatroom on pal talk last night.. and these issues came up:

1)was jesus a jew?
2)was jew a term that even existed at the time that jesus was born?
3)what language was the ORIGINAL bible written in?
4)Jew is a term that exists now and is in the bible- how did it get there if the original bible did not contain that term?

I am - by far- no expert.. but this is what i think

The term Jew did not exist at the time jesus was born.. therefore he was not a jew.. he was of the tribe of judah that eventually came to use the term Jewish.. but at the time he was living- HE WAS NOT A JEW.. for example.. the catholic religion is a branch off of the christian religion.. all catholics are christian, but not all christians are catholic.. (i hope my example makes sense) ... The original language the bible was written in was aramaic.. if you can believe this- someone actually wrote that it was written in jewish.. lol.. i tried to explain that jewish is not a language.. but it fell on deaf ears.. this same person said that jesus is a jew because the word jew is in her bible. but we are talking about a current translation that has been manipulated and changed throughout time.. oh yeah.. also this same genius said that Jesus was married to mary magdalene.. and when i asked for proof she directed me to the TV GUIDE because she had watched a tv show on it the other night.. if you give some input on these questions lets back it up with some proof..

Jesus was a jew. The term jew is a phonetic abbreviation of Jew-dah [judah]. In fact its a corruption of Jehu from the hebrew form yehu-di [ju dah].

The language the bible was originally written in is DEBATABLE.

The older version hebrew txts. do contain the word JEW. Its YEHU .

I would say the term "jew" is a phoenetic evolution of yehu-di. They most likely weren't calling themselve Jews back then and rather yehu'diym. But as time went on and as language evolves so do pronounciations. Somewhere along the line someone got tired of the whole word yehudi and decided to abbr. the sound to jew.

Also there were strangers who joined the covenant of the *yehudim* (jews) and the rest of the tribe. They were allowed to take on the name Jew. These were your religious converts. Nothing wrong wit being a jew by religion or birth (although the jews of today consider the former a second class citizen type but thats another subject).

Did you notice the Ku Klux Klan, Skinheads, Aryan Nation, and the Church of the Creator (COTC, whose motto is Rahowa [racial holy war]) all exalt Hitler? Hitler studied the Canaanite and Sumerian doctrines. In his study of the Canaanite doctrine he found things in a book called the "Talmud," a book of traditions of the Russian Jews called Ashkenazims originally Khazars who converted to Judaism in 740 A.D.

The reformed Jews were those of the Tribe of Judah who conformed to the Hellenistic (323-30 B.C.) ways of Rome. Most of these reformed Jews held high or prosperous positions in the government. They prospered either as skilled workers, Roman soldiers or learnt scholars. The council of the Sanhedrin were of this class of people, as well as Saul’s father. These men modernized the laws and statutes given to the children of Israel by way of Moses. These laws were adjusted according to their Roman life styles. (Matthew 15:6, 16:6, 23:2-3, 23:23, 25) Jesus Christ referred to them in this way:

Matthew 15:8-9:
“The is the people that approach unto me with their mouths, and honour me with their lip service: but their heart is very far from me. But it is no use for in vain they worship me, because they teach man-made doctrines and commandments.”<br>
