Satan does not equal adversary, Born.
In merriam-webster online, it says Satan is the adversary of God in Christianity and Judaism. They left out Islam, i see.
They call him shakhar, ibliys, shaytaan, et al. He is called the adversary because he "opposes, resists, or goes against" God.
Now, you pointed out something good, Born. Slanderer is one who defames. Webster adds, "malign".
Evil is nothing more than an idea. It itself has no power at all. one must give the idea form, shape, and create consequences. Also, one must set one's mind to believe that if they do this "idea", then it will harm or otherwise negatively affect another party. Then, one must add energy and life-force (called chi, by the ancient asian mystics---whose words are accepted by nuwaups but NOT ETCHED IN STONE OR ON A CLAY TABLET), then the process of implementation begins.
Afterwards the individual may see a response/reaction, and if it is deemed negative by the doer, then it is called malice. But the person who receives the malice is going to see it as negative, and then call it evil. So, to that person, the doer is evil; in short, a "devil"- do-evil. And you Born are right about that adversary thing. Merriam says that an adversary opposes, resists, or goes against. It says NOTHING about evil or doing malice. You are right sis--- like, i am adverse to the misinterpretation of nuwaubu because, to me, it is false. i oppose it, i go against it===== i am the adversary of nuwaubu. And for you pedantics out there, nuwaubu does NOT translate as sound right knowledge, right reason, nor right overstanding. Overstanding is not even an english word. Any way, that is not the literal translation of nuwaubu. see how york and his followers slip in a little word trick?
born, thanks for the email. Satan is a wordname for an angelic who was known to have rebelled in the heavens. he was thrown out. as he fell he promised The Most High and a few other folks that he would do everything in his power (great power because it is generated by fire) to bring the God's creation called man down to serve him, the evil one. He can be many things at once. wrong. he has to work his plans step by step, and is not all-seeing or all-knowing like The Most High. For there is none in the heavens the earth or within the earth that is like HIM, The Most High.
