(May 21) -- Thirty-nine-year-old Timothy Ellerbe will spend the weekend in jail facing child molestation charges. Metro arrested him on Wednesday on 50 counts related to sexually assaulting two 12-year-old girls. He went before a judge on Friday. Eyewitness News talked exclusively with Ellerbe's wife about the charges against him. Michelle Ellerbe said, "Kids still continue to come to my house. The parents that believe in me know, believe in him know it's not true." Michelle Ellerbe agreed to talk only with Eyewitness News on the condition we don't show her face. Michelle Ellerbe was asked, "Do you believe it?" "No, absolutely not. I don't believe it at all," she answered. While his wife stands by Timothy Ellerbe, some neighbors and the families of the accusers praise the police for their work. A neighbor said, "It's very shocking because I never would have expected it." During a court appearance Friday morning Ellerbe held a piece of paper in front of his face as he stood before the judge. Ellerbe's wife went to court to support her husband. He was returned to the Clark County Detention Center where he awaits another hearing on Monday. The case was continued because the judge wanted to make sure that Ellerbe's attorney could be present. He wasn't in court Friday morning, but a criminal complaint was filed. It says there was inappropriate touching of private areas and grinding around the teens genitals. It also says that Ellerbe held the two girls against their will. Michelle Ellerbe said, "He's just too friendly and too trusting and that is the bottom line." The victims in the latest case say that trust was broken when they say Ellerbe took advantage of them. Now he's waiting to hear if a judge will set bail. Timothy Ellerbe has never been convicted of these types of crimes, but he was arrested last August and charged with two counts of lewdness with a minor. Metro says that Ellerbe was out on bond when the new incidents happened.

A cop commuting to work on the Long Island Rail Road was hailed as a hero yesterday for arresting a man she saw raping a 9-year-old girl, authorities said. Metropolitan Transportation Authority Sgt. Nzingha Kellman was en route to her midnight shift at Grand Central Terminal on Tuesday night when she spotted the man with the girl sitting on his lap, authorities said. To Kellman's shock, the man was forcing the girl to have sex with him while 30 other passengers - including her toddler brother - rode in the same car of the westbound train, officials said. Kellman, a five-year veteran, leaped into action and handcuffed the man, identified as David Reese, 19, of Huntington, L.I. "Sgt. Kellman did a fantastic job in stopping a horrific, horrific crime," said Nassau Police Detective Sgt. James Skopek. Kellman's boss, Inspector Steven Connor, lauded her for helping "end the abuse this child suffered from." But the cop downplayed her role. "I don't consider myself a hero," she said. "I was just fortunate to be there at the time to stop the abuse." Police identified Reese as a "blood relative" of the victim, but declined to elaborate in order to protect her identity. The girl was treated at a local hospital and later returned to her mother. The alleged assault took place as the 9:33 p.m. Wyandanch-to-Hicksville train rumbled through Farmingdale. Kellman, who called for backup, handed Reese over to Nassau cops when the train pulled into the Bethpage station. Reese was held yesterday on $200,000 cash bail following his arraignment on charges of rape and sodomy. Originally published on May 20, 2004
