What exactly is the firmament?
verse 6.."God made the firmament to seperate waters above from waters below.." Then in verse 17 God "SET" (Nathan) the sun, moon and stars in the firmament.
That would make the sun moon and stars within the firmament 'expanse' and not in outerspace. With todays telescopes we know they are much further, so how could this be true?
How did God know it was DARKNESS before he himself saw the light to be able to distinguish amongst light and darkness?
verse 2.."Darkness(choshek) was upon the face of the deep" verse 4.."And God saw the light" God then goes on to divide light from darkness.
Without the SUN being created until Genesis 1:16 how was GOD able to determine a SUNSET 'erb (Evening) and SUNRISE boqer (Morning)?
If this was the 'BEGINNING' of TOTAL CREATION (Heaven and Earth). Who then created the WATERS and DARKNESS?
B'Rashith has written that they already existed, and doesn't mention when GOD made them.
Genesis 1:2 "And the Earth was without form and void and DARKNESS was upon the face of the DEEP, and the Spirit of GOD moved upon the face of the WATERS.
